We all have secrets. We would like to tell a lot of them, but we can't. So our lips are sealed, in this case, laced up. And, when you have secrets it's like looking at the world with one eye, you become one dimensional. That's the basis behind this painting.

Its two feet square. I finished it in 1966 I believe. So my memory is a quit shadowy as far as the compelling force that made me paint it. Oh, it's one of my first acrylic paintings, I was using gouache up to that point. This is two feet square, it's one of my first acrylic paintings on Masonite, this is more or less an experimental painting, but I kind of liked it so I kept it.
