Aspens are such beautiful tress, that's why I have so many paintings featuring them as the subject base. In this painting, we have Aspens reflected on an icy lake that's surrounded by peaks and snow into the distance. A winter wonderland of serene and calming nature. Blues, yellows and grays playfully tease your senses in an invocation of tranquil pleasures and lovely times.

Sketched Lake

Only one sketch for this painting has been found. Then again, when you're Vernon Finney, you can muster the ability to create masterpieces with just one sketch. For, like he tells us, most of his paintings come to him as either visions or dreams. And in that sense, he is free to do as he sees fit with his artwork from concept to fruition beyond that original dream or vision.
