I've always been interested in the Universe, even when I was a child. And I followed Carl Sagan's exploration and explanations of the Universe, so I decided that I would create my own "Starmaker''. I personified the God, or forces of the Universe, into creating a star, and years later the Hubble Telescope honed in on a group of stars and they called it the 'birth of the stars'. It seemed to be making stars more than anywhere else in the Universe. Also, in the photographs that they sent back, their inside was full of orange colored clouds, which kind of gave me goosebumps.
At any rate, this was a marvelous experience. This was my first full-sized figure, that I tried to paint, I fell in love with full-size and after that as many painting as I could do, full-sized figures, I did. But, of course, you can't do that with everything, the main thing was to get my ideas out. Most of my paintings would never be painted if I painted them large. It is oil on canvas, its 54 inches by 84 inches, I did it in 1985, and it's always been one of my most popular paintings.
